Patsy Ruth Miller (1904-1995) was an American actress,

born in Missouri, who worked mainly in silent films throughout the 1920's and found herself with less work as the silent era ended. She later wound up being a reknowned writer.

She played Esmeralda in "The Hunchback of NotreDame", and the footage of her being rescued and carried off by Quasimodo is a very recognizable image, and the footage was even used in Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Want to Have Fun Video."


The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1923) - Esmeralda, played by Miller, finds herself bound with leather straps to a table in the dungeon. Later, she is carted to through the streets of Paris with her hands bound.
